If you’ve been around the creator-verse for a while, you’ve probably asked yourself “should I be posting this on my feed or is it only appropriate for my story?” at some point.
Right? Because same lol.
Generally speaking, the advice across the board has always been: in-feed posts are for the niched, refined content and stories are for everything else. While I agree that the more niched content does well in-feed and that being chaotic on stories feels more “safe”, I’d be willing to bet that your “in-feed persona” and your “story persona” look like two different people from the perspective of a potential follower or client.
Am I right?
Long gone are the days of showing up with “24/7 professionalism” as a content creator, especially where in-feed posts are concerned. So what should you be posting in-feed as opposed to your story?
In fact, you can absolutely post "get to know you" content in both your stories and in-feed posts!!
It’s all about figuring out how to bring your chaotic, unfiltered self from your stories into your permanent content so your community can get to know the real you (because let’s be honest, not nearly enough of your followers see your stories and that content is often GOLD).
Earlier this week, I had an intrusive thought on my way to work about Christmas carolling. I watched Bad Moms Christmas the other night and realized I’d never, in my real life, seen Christmas carollers. So I took to my stories and asked my people if they have Christmas carollers in their town, or if carolling is dead/never even existed in real life.
Since this kind of question/content isn’t relevant in the slightest to my content (I share travel content and tips for content creators) and wouldn’t bring a ton of value to my community, I kept it to my stories. It also isn’t exactly the kind of content I would want someone to find my account from, since it’s not part of my regular content subjects or style. They’d arrive to my account and go “huh, this is not what I was expecting”? Which is what we generally want to avoid.
I had some funny convos in my DMs about Christmas carolling and really enjoyed talking about the mystery of Christmas carolling and why it's so prevalent in film but not in real life, but knowing my content pillars inside and out, that’s as far as I’d take that topic.
💅🏻 Do you see what I mean now about connecting your “story” persona to your “in-feed” persona? If you can make that connection between something you posted to your story that resonated and that started a conversation with your people, try to find a way to connect that to one of your content pillars and post it on your feed!
📣 You don’t always have to be creating new content, but you should always be paying attention to your content’s insights and the response your content gets from your community. There's a wealth of content ideas in your existing story content just waiting to be discovered!
If you're not sure whether or not to turn your story ideas into in-feed content, I got you!! I've created a fun little "Story to Static Post Chart" to help you determine how best to share that amazing content idea you have 😉

Hey Reader! Long time no chat! I spent last week in the BEAUTIFUL city of Halifax, Nova Scotia, and I thought I'd share a lil recap and roundup of my experience and recommendations! Ngl though, my biggest recommendation is to just GO. Halifax surprised me, and I think it's a Canadian city everyone should have on their bucket list! Now it's time to tap into my Type A, virgo brain and give ya the details you've come here for hehe 😜 My accommodation: This trip was very much last minute (a few...
Hey Reader! We're not all full-time travellers here, so let me know if this rings a bell: You maybe take a few trips a year as a travel content creator, and your travel content typically lasts you a few weeks before you fall into that "Uh okay I'm all outta things to say about this trip" content drought. Sound familiar? 😅 I see you, I feel you LOL but there are actually a ton of ways you can remain consistent and inspired when you're in-between trips as a content creator. First things first:...
Hey Reader! If you're familiar with Love Island (I beg of you to watch it, it's reality tv royalty), then you'll have heard the term "all of my eggs in one basket" MANY times throughout the series, right? Stay with me here! 😂 Many an Islander have used that expression to mean that they either are or are not putting all of their energy into one relationship in the Villa, which obviously causes tons of drama and is the major reason the show is so successful. For the purpose of this explanation,...
