Hey Reader!I don't think I've ever told this story about an experience I had with a coach a few years ago, but it's unknowingly shaped me to be who I am in some ways π . So I've been creating content and absorbing as much info as my human brain possibly can for years. Like I started my blog in 2014 and my insta in 2020 so I've been around the block lol. At the start of my journey, I was focused on blogging and learning everything I could about how to set up, maintain, and monetize a travel blog. With that came the task to set up an email list, so I decided to join a webinar from on particularly popular coach at the time (I'm not saying who lol it doesn't matter). Now, one thing to know about free webinars is that while they'll provide value to you throughout the call, 99% of the time they're going to sell you into their offer at the end. This is totally normal and something I have zero issue with (gotta respect the hustle lol), so I stayed until the end of the call to see what they had to say about their email marketing course offer. It looked soooo valuable and like the perfect investment for someone who wanted to go "all-in" on their email marketing journey. Then they positioned it in a way that turned me RIGHT off and had me immediately leaving the webinar π«£If you've attended webinars run by creator coaches or the like, you've probably noticed that the energy is usually pretty high. They want to get you excited about their offer and what it can do for you, right? Makes perfect sense that they'd be pumped, as they should be! However during the hype sesh, they positioned their offer as "something ONLY for the creators who were ready to go all-in", and said that they didn't want the type of creator joining who is unsure of themselves or that is hesitant. This offer wasn't for people who had self doubt, or were wishy washy about joining or unsure of their path. And from a marketing and business standpoint I totally get that, but it put me right off lol. Here's why:I did have self doubt. I was hesitant and I was unsure of my path.I had absorbed so much information about blogging and about building an email list, but I was still nervous to jump in and get started, which I know isn't unusual for someone starting their journey in this wackadoodle, ever-changing industry. And having someone tell me that the offer I'd just heard them rave about and got me excited to hear more about wasn't for me because I was feeling nervous about it, made me feel alienated and so, so small. And to be clear, I don't fault them for this. Clearly they weren't my type of coach, and that's okay! Taking the slow and soft approach wasn't their business model, but that experience made me realize that I want it to be mine.I believe the content creation space can use a lot more softness, empathy, and a wellness-first approach to the journey. Softness and success can and should coexist, especially in creative fields that require you to put yourself out there, be chronically online and exposed to constant comparison.

Hey Reader! First of all, I'm well aware that it's only Thursday, but I have a REASON for breaking my "Friday newsletter" rule okay? π A couple of weeks ago I shared a form with you and on my Insta stories inviting small creators to share their recent wins in an attempt to show everyone just how MUCH small creators are capable of, and that growth isn't everything. And boy oh boy did y'all DELIVER ππ I talk to fellow small creators literally every day and there's so much self-doubt going on...

Hey Reader! If youβve been around the creator-verse for a while, youβve probably asked yourself βshould I be posting this on my feed or is it only appropriate for my story?β at some point. Right? Because same lol. Generally speaking, the advice across the board has always been: in-feed posts are for the niched, refined content and stories are for everything else. While I agree that the more niched content does well in-feed and that being chaotic on stories feels more βsafeβ, Iβd be willing to...
